2019 Fall Conference: Local Presidents and Leaders Register Now!

Join us at NCUEA’s 2019 Fall Conference, "Transformative Organizing! Taking Action to Win for Public Education," in Savannah, Georgia from December 4-7, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Savannah.

We want 2019 and 2020 to be a year of big organizing and big wins. We know that winning big at the state and national levels start with NCUEA locals and our members.

Attendees at the fall conference will have an opportunity to share best practices on how we organize to make a positive impact on the lived realities of our members and students – and win on issues related to educators’ dignity and respect, to racial and social justice, and to student success.

We’ve lined up an incredible slate of speakers, panelists and workshops on these topics that include:

  • Kiese Laymon, author of Heavy, an award-winning memoir and one of the New York Times 10 Best Books of 2018.
  • Lauren Groh-Wargo, CEO of Fair Fight Action, which focuses on electoral integrity and reform. Ms. Groh-Wargo served as Stacey Abrams’ gubernatorial campaign manager.
  • Kris Brown, the President of Brady, America’s oldest and boldest gun violence prevention group.
  • Amena Brown, the author of five spoken word albums and two-non-fiction books who’s garnered national attention in media outlets such as Ebony Magazine, Huffington Post and Belong Magazine.  Ms. Brown will be the keynote speaker at UMID.
  • Economic Policy Institute (EPI) experts, Dr. Emma Garcia and Dr. Elaine Weiss, authors of "The Perfect Storm in the Teacher Market" series. EPI's mission is to inform and empower individuals to seek solutions to ensure broadly shared prosperity and opportunity.
  • Christian LoBue, Director of Campaigns & Partnership of the Voting Rights Lab. The Voting Rights Lab focuses on fighting voter suppression, expanding democratic participation, and establishing fair elections.

Everyday our educators make an impact on their students. Let’s continue and expand upon that tradition by making an impact on our broader communities by organizing and winning on issues that matter. Let’s win big together.

See you in Savannah!
