Marking Supplies

Found in: routines & procedures

Names are too long to write on all of a student's belongings, and little ones may even have trouble writing their name. Instead, pass out a set of permanent markers or crayons and have each student mark his property with a combination of dots and dashes, in a combination of colors. I did this for many years. Kids liked it so much that when they bought new supplies during the year, they automatically marked them too. Years into my career, one of my students told me her Dad does it at work and said a school librarian had taught him.
