Techniques for Music Review

Found in: arts; review & test prep

To review note reading, I toss a lightweight ball around the room. I call a student’s name then point to a note on the board for him/her to identify.

When teaching notes, students can use their hands and to count lines and spaces.

When we review lyrics for songs we will sing in a program, I say the lyrics and insert wrong words. They love to correct the teacher.

If we are practice singing and projecting to an audience, I draw a silly looking caricature on the board 'watching' the kids sing. I draw a smiling mouth on the character if they do a good job projecting their voices.
